Koopress opens a new factory and increases production capacity
Koopress, a printing house with 30 years of experience in the field of printing and production of ecological packaging, is pleased to announce the opening of a new production plant. This investment not only significantly increases the company’s production capacity, but also introduces comprehensive solutions in the field of water- and fat-resistant and ecological packaging to the market. Thanks to the new factory, Koopress strengthens its position on the market and raises quality and sustainability standards.
New production possibilities and sustainable development
The new Koopress production plant, occupying over 3,000 m² of production space and 1,800 m² of laboratory and office space, creates conditions for the development of innovations in the packaging industry. Thanks to investments in advanced machines and the latest printing technologies, the company increased its production capacity by over 50%, thus responding to the growing demand for high-quality ecological packaging solutions. The use of renewable energy sources, such as heat pumps, photovoltaic panels and heat recovery systems from machines, allows not only to save energy but also to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources.
“The construction of a new production plant and the introduction of innovative packaging solutions, such as our new lipo and hydrophobic coating, are key elements of our development strategy. Increasing production capacity by over 50% and implementing advanced technologies is a response to the growing market needs and our commitment to deliver the highest quality products,” says Koopress President, Mirosław Żywicki.
The new clean zone at the existing Koopress plant strengthens quality standards
While investing in a new printing house, Koopress also decided to modernize its existing plant by introducing a specialized clean zone. This new space, designed for packaging requiring the highest sanitary standards, plays a key role in ensuring excellent quality and hygiene of production. The clean zone was created to meet the requirements of packaging intended for direct contact with food, ensuring strict control of environmental parameters such as humidity and air purity. This minimizes the risk of contamination, ensuring that every product leaving the factory meets rigorous safety standards.
The antiseptic barrier of the future
It is worth recalling that Koopress was the first company in Poland to implement an advanced antiseptic coating in 2018, which was a great added value in the packaging industry. The opening of the new factory not only increases production capacity, but also significantly increases the research and development capabilities of this patented printing technology. At the Koopress innovation center there is a modern laboratory where the barrier coating developed in cooperation with the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warmia and Mazury is improved. This innovative solution is dedicated to pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic packaging, where the highest protection against microbiological contamination is required.
“Our cooperation with the University of Warmia and Mazury is an excellent example of strengthening the bonds between the world of science and business. By combining scientific knowledge with practical experience, we introduce innovations that raise industry standards and respond to market needs. It is our commitment to innovation and local partnerships that drives us to continuous development and introduction of solutions that are both ecological and technologically advanced,” adds Mirosław Żywicki.
Research confirms that packaging with Koopress antiseptic coating offers six times higher resistance to molds compared to traditional cartons. Additionally, the barrier significantly reduces the migration of chemical substances and the emission of unpleasant odors, which translates into better protection and quality of stored products. The coating can be tailored to specific customer requirements, offering protection on both the outside and inside of the package.
Expansion and investments in a new research and development department
The opening of a new production plant allowed Koopress to further expand the Research and Development Department, which focuses on creating modern packaging technologies. As part of these activities, the company develops innovative concepts, such as replacing plastic with paper, but also conducts advanced research on ecological barriers in packaging.
Products such as KiRiGAMi, PaperSkin and Paper Sleeve not only support the idea of plastic reduction, but also are the result of intensive work to ensure maximum microbiological protection and the production and printing of packaging intended for direct contact with food. Thanks to this, Koopress is able to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers, both from Poland and abroad.
KiRiGAMi trays, i.e. 90% less plastic in the packaging
The key product in the Koopress portfolio are KiRiGAMi paper barrier trays, which are a response to the global challenge of reducing plastic. KiRiGAMi trays, formed from paper, offer an excellent alternative to traditional plastic packaging, reducing the use of plastic by as much as 90% while printing each side of the tray and advertising on the packaging surface.
“The introduction of our new products, such as lipo and hydrophobic coating and KiRiGAMi paper trays, is Koopress’s response to dynamic changes in market needs.” – comments Koopress Sales Director, Paweł Nowakowski – “We are changing the face of packaging by introducing innovative solutions that respond to the growing ecological and health requirements of our customers. Our technologies are the result of a deep understanding of market trends and the need to adapt to global sustainability challenges.”
The advanced production technology of the KiRiGAMi tray allows you to combine the cardboard with a barrier bottom foil (“liner”), which guarantees full safety, flexibility in use and the possibility of full branding. This product is ideal for packaging salads, ready meals and snacks, while offering compatibility with various packaging technologies, including tray sealer and flowpack. KiRiGAMi trays are not only modern packaging, but also an expression of Koopress’s commitment to the development of sustainable solutions that meet the growing market expectations.
